June 26, 2013 - On Wednesday, June 26, 2013 as part of the Washington State Agriculture Teachers Association annual conference in Spokane, Washington, First Green hosted a day long workshop at Trailhead Golf Course in Liberty Lake, Washington.
The workshop provided teachers the opportunity to learn how to use golf courses as fun learning centers for their classrooms. Participants learned how golf courses can be used to teach about water, soils, trees, agronomy, horticulture, environmental science, technology, engineering, and mathematic principles.
Golf course superintendents also attended the workshop and learned how to host field trips at their golf courses.
Jen Camp, Superintendent at Liberty Lake, provided a tour of the maintenance building and pointed out the goats being used to clear invasive plants from some hard-to-reach areas of the course.
Jeff Gullikson, co-founder of First Green, ran the day-long workshop, as well as two supplemental workshops on June 27.
